Motifs & Design
Unlike pieces where motifs are scattered across the fabric, Kanger gathers its embroidery into one generous panel, known as the palla, leaving the rest of the stole calm and open. The effect is like a garden glimpsed through a window: rich and detailed in one place, quiet everywhere else.
- The rosebud vines: Graceful ivory vines trail across the panel in flowing rows. Along them bloom small paisley-shaped rosebuds, each filled with turquoise and outlined in crimson.
- The leafy sprigs: Between the rosebud vines, rows of slender branches carry soft aqua leaves and tiny crimson buds, with touches of saffron that catch the light.
- The rhythm: Rosebud vines and leafy sprigs alternate down the panel, creating a gentle, flowing pattern that draws the eye without overwhelming it.
- The divider: A fine turquoise line separates the main panel from a slim vertical border of star-shaped aqua flowers and crimson buds.
- The edges: A delicate floral border runs along the long sides, finished with a hand-stitched ivory edge that frames the stole.
- The open ground: The rest of the stole is left in plain golden pashmina, letting the softness and colour of the fabric speak for itself.
